rapid prototyping

Rapid prototyping is offered by Kimbeny Patternmaking in several forms:

We have a 3D printer or fused deposition modeller which builds prototypes using A.B.S. (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) Plus material. A filament of molten A.B.S. Plus is extruded by a computer controlled nozzle and built up layer by layer. Each layer is either .254mm or .33mm thick.

Items can have threads, undercuts and have working parts requiring clearances inside the built item. An example is our coaster with working gears, which was built assembled in one piece.

Finished items can be sanded, painted, drilled, tapped, glued and can be slightly flexible as in our clips. The build size is 254mm x 254mm x 305mm but the item can be built in sections and glued together.

We can also prototype using vacuum forming or the traditional timber and/or machined plastic methods.

Prototypes can be created from CAD files, engineering drawings, sketches or mockups.

Confidentiality and personal service is guaranteed.
